We've ruined her life.*

In less than a month of life, her name has been pronounced "Carries," "Cahr-is," "Carrots," "Um, how do you say this?," and inexplicably "Paris*." It's been spelled Caris, Karis, Kerris, and Karys.

Sorry, kid. Hope you don't mind too much. You only have another 80 years to deal with it though!

*If this actually ruins her life, a) she's a pussy and b) um, whoops.

**Likely from our constant refrain of "It's like Paris with a 'C'."

  1. I had the same problem when I was a kid. my name wasn't common then, but now its everywhere. Perhaps you'll start a trend like my parents may have. :D

  2. My daughter Leila gets it too. Leela? Liela? No, it's like the Clapton song.

Oh well...just wait till she can actually tell you that you ruined her life to feel guilty about it;)

  3. Well, I just happen to love her name, and think the pronunciation is obvious. We have an unusual last name, and people are always saying it wrong, spelling it wrong, or completely butchering it. It's annoying, but also very comical. I'm sure dear Carys will love her name and laugh at others' stupidity. Haha. :)

  6. Not sure what's so hard about it, honestly - it seems pretty phonetic to me. But then, I went to school with a girl with that name (and I liked it back then, too).

  7. I also love her name :) AND I wanted to tell you that I was dreading solid food poo too and was actually pleasantly surprised. It is easier to "deal" with than BF poo, except for the added trip to the toilet to flush it, but 99% of the time it just falls right in. Way less messy than the liquid poo. Except my son deuces like four or five times a day... Ha! Great post and I am so excited for you and your journey. You are a wonderful mom and a great resource!
