Carys Josephine

First, to answer the burning question: yes, we went with Carys Josephine. We were (and still are) slightly in love with the idea of the nickname "Ellie Jo" (to match Chris's sister Ana Jo, his aunt Nancy Jo, and my aunt Mary Jo) but everyone had thought of her as Carys for so long that we just had to stick with it.  I think. Ha!

As it is, she can still be Cary Jo. I just wish I could hand out cards that say, "Yes, this is a real name. We didn't make it up. It's not a uneek spelling; the "Y" belongs there. No, it's not CARROTS. I did not name my daughter CARROTS."

I am exhausted but over the moon. Not sore anymore, though the first day was pretty painful around about 4am when they had me stand for the first time. And then again a few hours later when I had to walk the halls. And then again a few hours later when I had to shower. But other than that it's been fairly great recovery.  Having gone through the TAC surgery helped a lot in knowing what to expect. I'd possibly go so far as to say this is even easier thanks to the tiny human that's hanging out in our room.

Yeah, I think she's pretty cute. Full birth story coming soon (though really, it was a scheduled c-section that went off without a hitch...can it be THAT interesting?).

  4. You can call her CJ! So adorable, love the name. And, I think you should send out birth announcements that say exactly what you wrote - it would be very in character for you guys. :0)

CONGRATS again. So excited for you!

  5. Not terribly sure how I found this post, but I've been laughing for the past minute straight about "No, I did not name my daughter CARROTS." She really is beautiful, and I don't say that about many babies.

  8. Whoa, I don't check your blog for a week and now there's a baby - congrats! She's seriously cute (but you already know that). Good luck with the c-section recovery - I'm six weeks past mine and it really is much easier than I'd expected.

  9. I have been following your journey for a long time since The Nest. I can't even put into words how happy I am for you. Carys is absolutely precious and not only does she have two amazing parents to love her and give her hugs and kisses every day, she has her own guardian angel. I wish you a lifetime of happiness with your sweet baby girl.
